Ludus Instrumentalis

Evgeny Sviridov, baroque violin

 “Exceptional technical perfection and what’s more soulful and full of brio interpretation” – so is written about a CD of 17th century music by baroque ensemble “Ludus Instrumentalis”.

Main band consists of three young musicians who knew each other in St-Petersburg: Evgeni Sviridov (baroque violin), Anna Dmitrieva (baroque violin) and Ekaterina Biazrova (harpsichord and organ); currently they are studying in Cologne by Prof.Konrad Junghaenel, Richard Gwilt and Michael Borgstede. Ensemble can be enlarged to 7-8 musicians.

In September 2015 “Ludus Instrumentalis” was honoured 1st Prize at Berliner-Bach Competition in Berlin. In April 2016 Ensemble got 1st Prize and Audience Prize at “Förderpreis Alte Musik 2016” in Saarland. Latest success of the band was in November 2016 at "Brothers-Graun" Competition in Bad Liebenwerda, where they got 1st Prize as well. An increasing career is confirmed by invitations to major festival in Europe in 2017: Bachfest in Leipzig, Koethener Bachfesttage, “TAMIS” Festival in Saarbrucken and others.

 Ensemble played in Big and Small halls of St-Petersburg Philarmony and in different festivals: “Earlymusic” festival in St-Petersburg (2014), “Baroque & Classics” in Nizhnij Novgorod (2014), ZAMUS Alte Musikfest in Cologne (2016), Melzower Sommerkonzerte in Brandenburg (2016). The performance of Ensemble “Ludus Instrumentalis” was highly estimated by well-known musicians such as Paolo Pandolfo, Hiro Kurosaki, Gerald Hambitzer, Francesco Corti, Juan Manuel Quintana, Michael Schneider and others.

Ensemble “Ludus Instrumentalis” has large concert repertoire, which includes pieces of different styles from early baroque till late classicism. Apart from works by well-known baroque composers “Ludus Instrumentalis” discovers and performs also music of forgotten and unknown composers. “Ludus” created different programms such as “Hommage a Corelli”, “Bizzarria”, “Les Gouts Reunis”, “Berliner Schule”, "Around Bach" and others.
