Michel Godard

Michel Godard

Creator as well as seeker, Michel Godard arouses, finds and ties links between the centuries and musical cultures. Throughout improvisation and its codes but also thanks to varied encounters with musicians from all backgrounds.

Classical tuba player before becoming an unmissable European jazzman reference, he revisits a forgotten instrument, that he also teaches at CNSM (Conservatoire de Paris), the ancestor of the tuba called : the serpent. His investigation (ran in close collaboration with Swiss postman Stefan Berger) has led him to incorporate that re-emerging instrument  into his compositions and into the baroque movement.

Today, his creation is an alchemy shaped with the precious metals that represent all the different musical cultures that obsess him. Michel Godard shares a timeless music; multidimensional musician, he opens possibilities for the new generations of prospectors and creators.
